Art rescue is the core service of the Foundation. We recognize that making a full time commitment to creating art most often requires major financial sacrifice. Rather than allow art to be lost or destroyed because of financial hardship, Yili will arrange to move and store art in exchange for a donation to the Foundation. In 2003 Yili conducted its most extensive rescue to date. The collection of Brett Cook-Dizney, consisting of three hundred 8' x 4' wooden canvases, was in jeopardy of being destroyed. The artwork was located in a walk-up loft in Harlem, NY. The Yili staff set up a pulley system, lowered the canvases four stories and relocated them to storage. Since then the Foundation has helped several artists ensure the preservation of their work. |
